Board Certified Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG), Integrative Holistic Medicine (ABIM)

Dr. IvoryBS  Biomedical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University
MD  Emory University School of Medicine
Boardcertified in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) since 1998
Boardcertified in Integrative Holistic Medicine (ABIM) since February 2014

“I am a native Brevardian whose first local hospital experience was my birth at Wuesthoff Rockledge.  After a great childhood in Cocoa, I left for college at 17 and diligently pursued my career in engineering.  After achieving my childhood dream of working for AT&T Bell Labs with the very first job after college, I had an epiphany.  While engineering satisfied my inner math geek, the reality is that I needed more balance between science and a profession that allowed direct human interaction without the confines of an office cubicle.  Medicine is the path that answered that need.

That path consisted of traditional allopathic training and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology.  After training, I felt pulled towards a non-traditional path and I traveled to different parts of the country while working to increase my exposure to life.  I got my first exposure to the concept of herbal medicine and nonanimal sourced hormones. I worked in solo rural practices, I worked in large urban managed care groups. I worked on an army base and I worked in a medical school.

I worked on tropical islands and inner cities and, over the past 9 years, I have worked here at home. My traditional practice has included surgery, traditional pharmaceuticals, herbal supplements and bioidentical hormonal therapy but the sense of only addressing isolated problems and never preventing illness or treating the whole patient never escaped me.  My professional and personal evolution continued with the acquistion of additional diagnostic (Functional Medicine) and therapeutic (Integrative Holistic/Alternative Medicine) tools with my formal training in integrative holistic medicine.  My practice now also provides information and teaching to redirect behavior towards balance, clean living and natural nutrition.  My focus includes prevention of illness, teaching clean living and natural nutrition, and preconceptual changes to start your next generation in the healthiest manner possible.”
